How long have you been in business?
We began Scan-It, Inc. in 1999.
What is your primary product or service?
We deal primarily with products and services relating to the electronic document management industry. We offer scanning services for converting paper and microfilm based information to electronic image files that can be easily managed with a personal computer. We also sell and support electronic document management systems utilizing DocuWare software.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I began working in the microfilm industry in 1978 as an equipment technician. From there, I moved into a sales position and by the early 90's began working with some of the first electronic document imaging systems. In 1999 I gathered together a group of the most experienced people I knew in the industry and formed Scan-It, Inc. Our service offerings, at the time, bridged both worlds - microfilm and digital scanning. These days, our focus is primarily on scanning services and electronic document management systems.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I would have to say that it is our level and depth of experience in this business. From experience comes a certain level of expertise. While a lot of our jobs are similar in that we are converting one format of information to another, we almost always find something unique that requires us to "think outside the box" in order to complete the job. Our staff are some of the most knowledgeable and creative people in the industry, always looking for a better way to do their jobs.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We operate out of a single location in Beaverton - a couple of blocks from the Nike campus

Most of our work is done in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon/Washington). But, we have sold and support document management systems in Vancouver B.C., Tucson AZ, Australia (2), Ireland and Singapore.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Ownership of Scan-It, Inc. is held by myself, Russ Cogar, and my business partner, Lona Wilkie. We also manage the day to day operations of the company.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday through Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
